About Us

We're Dale and Carrie Spoonemore, the creators of “From Seed to Spoon.” We decided in spring of 2015 that we wanted to try growing food for our family of 6. We started with a typical Oklahoma Bermuda grass lawn, and over the course of two years, we converted it into an urban backyard food farm. We spent nearly all of our free time over the course of those two years reading books, attending classes, and watching YouTube videos to learn all we could about gardening and growing food, and now our FREE mobile app combines everything we've learned into one easy to use app!

We remember how lost and overwhelmed we felt when we first started, and now we want to share what we’ve learned in hopes of helping others grow food for themselves as well! Growing your own food doesn't have to be difficult and we're here to help you grow food efficiently, economically, and sustainably!

I enjoy this app very much. I have memory issues and this app helps me continue gardening without having to try to remember everything. I recommend it to everyone I meet. I love that it shows you the best companion plants, and the health benefits of the plants. Not to mention it offers information and assistance on the pests that are attracted to each plant and how to deter them. Additionally, they have videos and workshops to help as well By far my favorite gardening app. Thank you!

This is a terrible app! The first plant I tried to find, straight from their catalog, did not show up. You can't even look up the plants identifying number. That makes no sense, if you are going to have an specific number to identify your plants, maybe make it so you can search for it. Also, if you pick a filter, you can't unselected it. So, you will have to have some for of a filter unless you back out of the app completely.

This app contains tons of information about almost everything I've planted so far! Occasionally, I run into species that aren't in the system, but when that happens, I simply request to add it. Sometimes, the app has difficulty saving the information when I type in a varietal that isn't already in the database, but it is only a small flaw in an otherwise excellent app. This app is now just as vital to my gardening experience as my trowel and gardening gloves!

What's new

This update adds a "New" label to the Let's Grow card on the dashboard so it's easier to know which plants are newly available to plant. We also fixed various bugs and some display issues on smaller devices.
