How to Grow:
Chives are a perennial plant. They can be planted indoors 10 weeks before your last spring frost and transplanted outdoors 4 weeks before your last spring frost. Chive seeds are planted 1/4 inch deep, 16 per square foot, in the full sun. Take care to notice what plants are around the area as well, see the companion plant section below. Chives will sprout within 7-14 days with moderate and consistent watering.

Harvesting:
Chives will be ready to harvest in approximately 75-80 days. Chives can be harvested at any point once they have grown to approximately 6-8 inches. To harvest, simply snip the top 1/3 inch with scissors. If you want to use the flowers, wait to snip the ends until the flowers bloom.
